Terms and privacy
Terms of use
- BOPPi is a game for two consenting adults aged 18 or over.
- Everything in the game is optional. Either of you can say no to any card, at any time.
- Don’t record, share or post your partner’s private material without their clear permission.
- Packs are digital purchases for your account. Your rights under Australian consumer law always apply.
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you use BOPPi at www.boppigame.com (the “service”), which is operated by Andrew West in Australia (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use BOPPi.
2. Who can use it
- You must be at least 18 years old, and able to enter into a binding agreement.
- BOPPi is designed for two adults who both want to play. Some cards have adult themes.
- You must give accurate details when you sign up, and keep your sign-in details to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
3. Playing together: consent and respect
BOPPi is a playful game, and nothing in it is a demand. Cards are invitations.
- Either person can accept, save, pass or ignore any card, at any time, without giving a reason. A card is never an agreement to do anything.
- Nothing in the app authorises recording, photographing, sharing, posting or publishing anything private. Only add a photo of your partner, or share a tile, if they have clearly agreed.
- Don’t use BOPPi to pressure, harass, threaten, stalk or control anyone, to invite someone who doesn’t want to be invited, or for anything unlawful.
- Keep your session code between you and your partner. Anyone with the code and an account can join the session.
- If you feel unsafe, or your partner asks you to stop, stop. BOPPi is not a substitute for talking to each other, and it isn’t relationship, medical or counselling advice.
4. Your content
You own the names, notes and photos you add. You give us permission to store them and show them to your partner so the service can work. You promise that you have the right to add them, that they aren’t unlawful, and that they don’t show anyone who hasn’t agreed. We don’t read your sessions as part of running the service. We may remove content, or suspend an account, if we reasonably believe these terms are being broken or someone is at risk.
5. Packs and payments
- The Starter pack is free. Other packs are digital goods that you buy for your account. They unlock in every session you play, for both players.
- Prices are shown before you pay and are in Australian dollars unless stated otherwise. Payment is taken by Stripe, and we never see your card details.
- A pack is for your personal use and can’t be resold or transferred.
- Our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that can’t be excluded. If a pack doesn’t unlock, or doesn’t work as described, contact us and we will fix it or refund you. You can also ask for a refund or replacement where the law gives you that right.
- We may change prices and packs for future purchases. We won’t change what you have already bought in a way that takes it away.
6. Emails, texts and notifications
When you sign up we turn on email alerts for new cards and gentle reminders, which you can switch off in the app. Texts are only sent if you give your number and tick the box. When you invite your partner we send them one email. You must only enter an email address or mobile number for someone who would expect it, and you’re responsible for any messages you send from your own phone.
7. Keeping the service running
We aim to keep BOPPi available, but we don’t promise it will always work, always be on time, or be free of errors. We may change, pause or end parts of the service. We will give notice of a major change where we reasonably can.
8. Ending your use
You can stop at any time and delete your account in the app (Us, then Delete my account). We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or misuse the service. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 4, 9 and 10) do so after your account ends.
9. Our rights
The BOPPi name, design, cards, text and software belong to us or our licensors. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial play, and you must not copy, resell or build a competing product from them.
10. Limits on our responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, and without limiting your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as an outage at a service provider. Where we are responsible, our liability is limited, at our choice, to supplying the service again or paying for it to be supplied again, or to refunding what you paid for the item in question. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email, and continuing to use BOPPi after that means you accept it.
12. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Questions about them: info@boppigame.com
Privacy policy

- Your game, including names, cards played and any photos, is shared with your partner and no one else.
- We don’t sell your information, show ads, or use third-party tracking. We only keep anonymous daily counts of how far people get.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.
- You can delete your account in the app and ask us to delete your game data.
Who we are
BOPPi (“we”, “us”) is a web app at www.boppigame.com, operated by Andrew West in Australia. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the Australian Privacy Principles.
Questions or requests: info@boppigame.com
Who can use BOPPi
BOPPi is for adults aged 18 and over. Some cards have adult themes. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and if we learn we have, we will delete it.
What we collect
| Information | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Account details. Your email address and, if you give it, your name. If you sign in with Google, the name and email Google shares with us. Your password is handled by Google’s Firebase Authentication, so we never see or store it. | To create your account, sign you in, send the emails below, and let you return to your game on any device. |
| Game details. Names, avatars, card wording and comfort-level choices, the cards sent, accepted, saved or passed, to-dos and notes, timestamps, and any photos you choose to add. This includes the private picks you make in the Fantasy Menu game, which we store so matches can be worked out; the app only shows your partner the ones you both chose. | To run the game for you and your partner, and to show your round history. |
| Your partner’s email. When you invite your partner, you type their email address and name. | To send them one invitation. We don’t store their address. We only count invitations to stop misuse. If they join, the details they give are theirs. |
| Alert settings. Your email address and optionally your mobile number, your choices about alerts, your time zone, and (if you turn on app notifications) a notification address from your phone’s browser. | To tell you when your partner sends a card, and to send gentle reminders (never overnight). |
| Your partner’s mobile number. If you add it for the “Text your partner each card” feature. | To open your own messages app with a ready-written text. It is kept on your device only and is not sent to us. |
| Purchases. Which packs your account owns, and a record of each payment (Stripe’s reference number, the amount and currency, the date). | To unlock your packs, and for accounting and tax records. |
| Technical information. Our hosting provider’s logs, which include your IP address and device type, and error logs from our servers. | To keep the service secure and working. |
| Anonymous usage counts. We count how many visits reach each step (for example “visited”, “signed up”, “started a game”, “bought a pack”) as daily totals. These counts contain no names, email addresses or other identifiers, and can’t be traced to you. | To see where people get stuck, and improve the sign-up and buying experience. |
BOPPi doesn’t use advertising or third-party analytics trackers. It uses your browser’s local storage to remember your game and settings on your device, and Firebase’s sign-in storage to keep you signed in.
Who sees your information
- Your partner sees your name and avatar, and the activity in your shared session, including photos and notes you add. Anyone who has your session code and an account can join, so don’t share it with anyone but your partner.
- Service providers who handle information for us, only to provide their service:
- Google Firebase: sign-in and the database that holds accounts and sessions.
- Netlify: hosting and the small programs that send alerts and take payments.
- Brevo: sending emails (and text alerts). Our test text alerts may go through Twilio.
- Stripe: taking payments.
- Your phone’s notification service (Apple, Google or Mozilla), if you turn on app notifications.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
We don’t sell your information and don’t share it for advertising.
Where it is stored
Our providers run services in several countries, including the United States and Europe, so your information may be processed outside Australia. We choose providers that protect information to a high standard, and the connection to BOPPi is encrypted.
Emails and texts
- When you sign up we turn on emails for new cards and gentle reminders. You can switch them off in the app (Us, then Email and text alerts), and every card email has a link to leave the session.
- Texts are only sent if you type your mobile number and tick the box. Untick it to stop them.
- The invitation email we send your partner says who invited them. If they ignore it, nothing happens.
- We don’t send marketing.
How long we keep it
- Account and game data are kept while your account is active.
- You can delete your account in the app (Us, then Delete my account). That removes your login and your link to the session.
- If the person who started a session leaves it through the email link, the session and its photos are deleted. Otherwise a session stays until you ask us to remove it.
- Payment records are kept as long as the law requires for accounting and tax, which is generally at least five years in Australia.
- Server logs are kept for a short time by our hosting provider.
Keeping it safe
We use encrypted connections, sign-in through Google’s Firebase, rules that stop other accounts reading your account details, and a payment provider that handles card details instead of us. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will tell you and the Australian regulator as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- Ask to see the information we hold about you, or to correct it.
- Ask us to delete your game data or account information.
- Turn alerts off at any time in the app.
Email us at info@boppigame.com and we will reply within 30 days. If you’re not happy with how we handled a request or complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change matters, we will also tell you in the app or by email.
